Well Jose Rosell of XTR Pepo has out done himself once again, but wait it’s not a Ducati. Being known as one of the premiere Ducati builders in the world, Jose stepped outside of his love for Ducati. The result is this stunning 80’s inspired XTR Pepo BMW R100r Cafe Racer The base is a 92 BMW R100r bike but he did have to add some Ducati parts to it after all.
The platform is a 1992 BMW R100r motorcycle, but not much of the stock machine is left. The frame has been heavily modified with custom reinforcement tubes installed and a new sub-frame. The BMW engine has been highly modified with racing camshafts, high compression pistons, ported and gasflowed heads and a set of Keihin FCR40 carbs to help this monster breathe. Additionally a modified Sparks exhaust system was fabricated and tuned to the engines modifications.
Knowing Jose, he had to at least incorporate some Ducati components into this bike. The front forks and front wheel are from a Ducati Sport Classic. The brakes have been upgraded to Discacciati front brake rotors, calipers and a brake master cylinder. To help this beast stop, a set of Frenturbo Kelar braided brake lines were used. The rear brakes were kept stock due to the OEM wheel and hub used. The stock shock was scrapped and replaced with an Ohlins adjustable shock.
To give it that distinctive 80’s enduro racer styling, Jose went all out with the bodywork. A fuel tank was taken from a Moto Guzzi and modified to fit the BMW frame. The front fairing, tail section and fender were all handcrafted. As with many of XTR’s builds, the front fairing features the signature twin headlight design that is seen on early racers. The front fender is constructed of carbon fiber and the tail section has a unique design that exposes the battery.
The result of Jose’ ingenuity and designs, is this XTR Pepo BMW R100r Cafe Racer with an 80’s inspired endurance racer look. We have followed his builds going back to his original company Radical Ducati and love everyone of them. His eye for classic racer styling combined with his passion for performance, creates some of the most beautiful bikes around. Be sure to go check out more of his builds at the links below.
