Whenever we see an email pop up from Pepo Rosell of XTR Pepo in our inbox, we know we are in for a treat. Well this time to my surprise it was the XTR Pepo Cagiva Flat Tracker “Chico Malo”. A slight departure from the Ducati road racers that Pepo usually pumps out, but still a stunning little machine. The base is a 1986 Cagiva Elefant 350 but that’s about it as everything has pretty much been changed.
Up front, Pepo went with a BMW R100r front end, wheels and brakes to help add a little performance over thew stock ones. In the rear, he went with the polished stock swing-arm mounted to a shortened Ohlins shock. To add some details, speed holes were drilled in the shock linkage which we think looks pretty awesome.
Now to rear boost the performance, which Pepo is known for, he turned his attention to the engine. Starting with the stock 350 Ducati Pantah engine, he performed some pretty cool mods. First, the engine was bored out from 350 to 750cc, wait what? Yes I said 750cc. Next the head was machined and ported to help increase flow and compression. A set of Keihin FCR38 carbs with DNA race filters were fitted up to help this little beast suck in the air. Help the air escape is a SuperMario 2 into 1 exhaust system with Spark / XTR muffler.
For the body design, a Mash 125 tank was used that has been modified to fit the Cagiva frame and flow with lines better. In the rear is a one off XTR Tracker style seat mount to a custom made sub-frame. Dirt track style handlebars were mounted to a set of risers along with a sweet Motogadget Motoscope Mini speedo. Finally, to truly round out the tracker look, front and side number plates were added.
If you haven’t already, be sure to head over to XTR Pepo’s blog to checkout all their builds. He has some stunning Ducati builds as well as other bikes too. You can also follow him on social media to see what he comes up with next. We have been following Pepo since he originally owned Radical Ducati and have always been amazed by his builds. Now we just need to rip up some pavement / dirt on one haha.
