Jay LaRossa has been one of the top builders in the industry for over a decade now. The builds that come out of his shop are nothing but stunning with classic styling and outstanding craftsmanship. This Honda CB550 Cafe Racer is a perfect example of his expert level of building bikes. Starting with an already clean bike, which cost about $1300, Jay was able to transform this machine into a stunning classically styled cafe racer.
One of our favorite designs pieces on this bike is the seat. The tail section and seat pan were all hand crafted with a uniquely styled seat. The painting and pin stripping was done by Tom McWeeney of Kustoms Inc. The leather seat was left with the center open to view the beautiful pin stripping done.
As stated by Jay himself, the engine received a Big Bore kit and is now 608 cc, the crankcases have been disassembled, all gaskets are new, Barnett clutch and breech work with polishing ducts, all new valves have been assembled with new springs and titanium cups. The bike also features a Megacycle camshaft and huge Keihin CR racing carburetors so we can burn those Firestone tires I love. One of our 4-in-1 Yoshimura Replica style exhaust systems was used with one of our Lossa conical mufflers and the whole was ceramic-coated.
We have been following Lossa Engineering since we first saw Jay on one of the original seasons of Cafe Racer TV. we got hooked on his quality of builds and have followed him ever since. Be sure to head over to his website and social media pages to checkout all his awesome builds. Also, we sure to check out all his line of Lossa products hand crafted by Jay himself.
