We love scrolling through some of the builds from our favorite builders. Christian of Plan B Motorcycles is one of them and this Plan B Motorcycles Benelli 354 is an impeccable build. The bike was built not as a tribute but a celebration of the Ferrari 512M and what a celebration it is.
The base for the build was a Benelli 354 Sport which doesn’t celebrate much in the world of power. A 500cc version of the engine was used instead. The stock carbs were ditched and a set of Dellorto flat slides installed. Wanted the carbs to resemble ones fitted on race cars of that era, he added a set of machined velocity stacks and polished the bodies.
With all the new power coming from the 500cc engine, the suspension needed some upgrading. Christian basically ditched the rear of the bike and hand fabricated a new aluminum subframe. Then a beautiful custom made swingarm was made to convert it to a monoshock setup.
In the words of Christian, “All the bodywork harks back to racing bikes of the 70s and was made by mixing different materials and techniques. The gas tank is made from 0.8mm steel, with two big windows on the sides to keep an eye on the fuel level. The seat and the upper part of the fairing are fiberglass, while the belly pan, big air scoops on the sides and all the rest were made from aluminium.”
This might be one of our favorite tribute / celebration builds of all times. The classic designs of the 70’s combined with some of the modern technology available today, make this an amazing build, Be sure to head over to Plan B Motorcycles website and social media pages to view some of their other amazing builds. Christian will not disappoint you I promise.
