If you watch TV, you probably have heard of The Walking Dead TV series. One of the main characters, Daryl Dixon, played by Norman Reedus commissioned this build from John Ryland of Classified Moto. Norman, being an avid motorcycle enthusiast, saw one of Classified Moto’s other builds and knew he needed one. Norman contacted John about building one to suit his tastes. After many discussions and emails, the Norman Reedus XV920R Scrambler was born.
If you have not already seen Classified Moto’s builds, be sure to check them out. John is a Yamaha Virago expert and this XV920R for Norman Reedus shows it. Norman wanted something that was streetable, yet tough enough to hit the trails. The frame has been modified with Classified Moto’s signature sub-frame and seat. The front end was upgraded with a set of 2010 YZF-R6 Forks and a modified 07 YZF-R6S swing-arm and shock. This gives the bike a much better suspension setup then the stock XV920R.
The engine has been completely rebuilt and with the help of one of our good friends, Greg Hageman, a new Mikuni carburetor setup was installed. Greg being a Virago expect himself, helped John find the perfect setup and fine tune the carburetors. One of John’s other signature pieces on all his bikes, is the fuel tank. The tank is from a Benelli Mojave 250 and looks like it was made for the bike.
This bike is one of the coolest XV920R’s around. We have loved all of Classified Moto’s Virago builds but this is actually one of the last Yamaha XV920’s that they will be building. Norman Reedus just happen to be the lucky man who got the last one. Be sure to go check out more of Classified Moto’s builds, as they are always coming out with something new and unique to the custom bike world.
