One of our favorite builders, Gregg’s Customs who is usually ahead of the industry and terms of designs has built this sweet R1 Flat Tracker. Although built back in 2010, it is still one of our favorite builds from Gregg. We have been following him for over 10 years since he built such bikes like the Hellion Stretefighter and and GC-1000. This R1 Flat Track Racer is a perfect example of his abilities.
When you think of a 2009 Yamaha TZF R1, a Flat Tracker does not come to mind but for Gregg it did. Starting with the stock bike, he need to loss a lot of weight. The bike was completely stripped down and the stock subframe ditched. Gregg custom build cool subframe which also matches the front tank cover. The stock swingarm was swapped out for one of his cool custom single sided swingarms and a set of 19″ Perfromance Machine Flat Track wheels were used.
To make the bike stand out even more, the frame was nickle plated and the bike painted is a bright gold metal-flake candy with a design that is a tribute to legend Kenny Roberts. To help give the 998cc cross plane engine some performance with a mean bark, a shorty Graves exhaust system was installed. You’ll know when this thing is coming up on you at the dirt track.
IF you have never seen Gregg’s builds before, I suggest you head over to his website and social media pages to check them out. Some of our favorites are his Streetfighter builds and it is with great sadness that his all time top build the Hellion was destroyed in the California wild fires last year. His design vision and fabrication skills are truly astonishing and I bet you will agree.
