Over the years, one of the most popular platforms for custom motorcycles has become the BMW R100 models. We first saw this BMW R100 Scrambler back in 2016 built by AJ Pushkarna. This bike just goes to show you that stunning customs are coming from amateur garage builders as well.
AJ originally purchased this bike off of craigslists and his vision was a go anywhere machine. He knew he wanted the scrambler styling, so he started with upgrading the suspension. The frontend was ditched and replaced with a set of forks from a Triumph Speed Triple. Keeping with the old school styling, he decided to go with a one off custom hub and excel spoked wheel.
Additionally, upfront he went with a BSA headlight and a set of Renthal MX handlebars to give it that scrambler look. The stock R100 gas tank was replaced for a ’67 BMW Teardrop tank which flows perfectly into the custom made seat. IN keeping with the scrambler look, he went with a custom 2 into 2 high mount side exhaust system which I bet sounds great.
Finally, all the electronics including the wiring harness were revamped. The harness was freshened up, speedo and electronics from Motogadget added and new underseat battery box were added. We love how the speedo is mounted in the headlight bucket which is very reminiscence of the old BSA bikes.
This build might be a few years old but the design will stand the test of time. A perfect balance of vintage styling with modern technology makes this custom BMW a stunning build. AJ has kept to his vision and built a go anywhere machine that is ready for the pavement or dirt.
